Internet Browser Comparison Results - UAT by Jasswin
Continue from The Best and Fastest Internet Browser for Me...
I have tested below few famous Internet Browsers after I installed it. As I am looking for the best and fastest Internet browser for my own used, so when I perform the testing is based on how I use the Internet browser daily and it is only on my Dell notebook with Internet Broadband 2Mb download speed link.
Internet Browser Testing Environment:-
Internet Network: Cable DSL Internet Broadband 512Kb upload / 2Mb download speed link
Computer Laptop: Dell Latitude D620 Notebook (Good Notebook)
Computer Specification:
- Intel Centrino Duo 2.0GHz
- 2GB RAM
- 80GB IDE Harddisk
- NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Other Applications installed:-
- Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007
- Symantec Antivirus 10.1.6.6000 (Scan Engine: 81.3.0.13)
- Office used applications and other utilities
Internet Browser Comparison Results (Updated Date: 11/Aug/2009):-
This is my own UAT (User Acceptance Test by Jasswin) comparison testing results and the benchmark, and it may not same in your environment. If I retest it in future, then I will update the above date and below Internet Browser testing results and benchmark.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
Overall Rank: 3/5 (5 = Excellent)

- It take sometime to download the Internet Explorer 8 setup file (IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe), the size is around 16.5MB.
- During setup, it will scan your computer and if your windows is not up-to-date, then it will prompt you to download the latest Microsoft update before install. I manual download and install this file (WindowsXP-KB932823-v3-x86-ENU.exe) first (need reboot), then only can install the Internet Explorer 8. After installed IE8, then only can use after restart the my computer again.
- If you are not familiar on the application setup, then you may call for help from friends or research from Internet or give up after few tries.
- When I browse my blog, It take few seconds to load the page, but suddenly the IE8 prompt an error 'Internet Explorer cannot open the site. Operation aborted. ' then automatically close my blog. Oh, my god! I quickly use the Firefox to browse my blog again, then fine... something wrong on IE8 or my blog.
- I spend sometime to search from the Internet, and found that this is due to javascript compilation between IE8 and Blogger, and is the known issue. I have to follow the suggestions to remove the Blogger Followers and Google Friend Connect gadgets, then only able to view the page without close the blog page. But IE8 still prompt the warming 'Errors on this webpage might cause it to work incorrectly', then I ignore it because my blog work fine in other Internet Browsers. I am not really sure this is the IE8 or Blogger problem.
- If a lot of people using IE8 and browse the Blogger website, then they may think that your blog got problem and indirectly give a bad experience on this. Hope Microsoft or Blogger can fix it asap!
- Prompt the error, then close the page automatically.
- But after I downloaded and installed the Java for Chrome, then NO issue to view the Penang Tai Chi homepage now.
Browse Chinese Website: 3/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I browse few Chinese Websites using different encoding in Chinese Traditional (BIG5), Chinese Simplified (GB2312), Unicode (UTF-8).
- No problem.

- It happen few times prompt the error, then close the page automatically.

- It always prompt the error ''Done, but with errors on page.'

- Access office used applications (Even developed in .Net run on IIS 6 or Java apps run on Weblogic) , newspapers, blogs, forums, company's website, Internet search engine. It is really improved a lot compare to IE6. It display the main frame text then pictures then other frames in same ways. It has no problem to run the .Net application.

- IE8 allow me to see all the icons when create or edit the posts. Title box is overlap to body box a bit. But It allow me to resize the picture in the post body.
Play Facebook Online Flash Game: 4/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I can open few IE8 and login to Facebook using different accounts at the same time and play the Facebook Farmtown, Restaurant City, and Pet Society online flash game. The movement in flash game is smooth without always move my mouse to make it like active in the game.
- If you click on some buttons in flash game, it prompt out smoothly but is not fast enough.
Fresh Start the IE8: around 2 seconds

Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1

- It didn't take long to download the Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1 setup file (Firefox Setup 3.5.1.exe) and the size is around 8MB.
- The installation for the Firefox 3.5.1 is easy and didn't give me any problem on it and auto upgrade from Firefox 3.5 to 3.5.1 version.
- It didn't give me any error to view my blog and it is fast.
- May be I have installed the Java for Chrome, then NO issue to view the Penang Tai Chi homepage now.
Browse Chinese Website: 4/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I browse few Chinese Websites using different encoding in Chinese Traditional (BIG5), Chinese Simplified (GB2312), Unicode (UTF-8) without any problem.

- Access office used applications (Even developed in .Net run on IIS 6 or Java apps run on Weblogic) , newspapers, blogs, forums, company's website, Internet search engine. Only has some issue on the Java Weblogic to execute the button, but overall is FAST to display all the websites.

- Only not able to press the 'Tab' button in the post body, overall no issue. It allow me to resize the picture in post body.
Play Facebook Online Flash Game: 4/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I can open few Firefox 3.5.1 and login to Facebook using different accounts at the same time and play the Facebook Farmtown, Restaurant City, and Pet Society online flash game. Overall performance is fast to play the computer online games.
Cold Start the Firefox 3.5.1: less than 5 seconds

Google Chrome Browser

- It is very fast to download the setup file (ChromeSetup.exe) and file size 544Kb. Once you run the file, then it will continue to download/install from Google through backend and it won't take long. This is transparent to user.
- The installation for the Google Chrome Browser is quite easy and just prompt you want to import the information from IE (same as other Internet Browser), but the setting is similar to IE (example network proxy, etc).
- Beautiful, and may be the Blogger is belong to Google too.
- It able to view the page, but only java applet portion didn't display, then prompt me to download the Java plug-in. It is NOT same as the Firefox 3.5 or IE8, close the page automatically.
- But after I downloaded and installed the Java for Chrome, then NO issue to view the Penang Tai Chi homepage now.

I am not sure is it due to .Net application is from Microsoft, some of the .Net application not compatible with Google Chrome Browser, but IE8 no problem.

- Google Chrome or Google Chromium allow me to press the 'Tab' button in the post body, and all the buttons can use. But It not allow me to resize the picture in the post body.
Play Facebook Online Flash Game: 5/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I can open few Google Chrome Browser or Google Chromium and login to Facebook using different accounts at the same time and play the Facebook Farmtown, Restaurant City, and Pet Society online flash game. Most important thing is when i click on the button in the flash game, it pop-up very fast. SUI (hokkien mean beautiful)..

Opera 10 for Windows

- It is quite fast to download the setup file (Opera_1000_en_b1_Setup.exe) and the file size is around 6.8MB.
- The installation for the Opera is fast and without many steps.
- No problem to view my blog and it is fast.
- May be I already installed the Java for Chrome before, so when i view the Penang Tai Chi homepage without any error.
Browse Chinese Website: 5/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I browse few Chinese Websites using different encoding in Chinese Traditional (BIG5), Chinese Simplified (GB2312), Unicode (UTF-8) without any problem.

- First few times I used, it only display 3 icons for me in the posting area after I installed the Opera. But now it able to show me all the icons, and only not able to press the 'Tab' button in the post body, it jump back to Title box. Not sue is it because I already restarted the laptop or installed the Java for Chrome. It not allow to resize the picture in post body.
Play Facebook Online Flash Game: 5/5 (5 = Excellent)
- I can open few Opera 10 and login to Facebook using different accounts at the same time and play the Facebook Farmtown, Restaurant City, and Pet Society online flash game. The pop-up screen when you click on the flash game button is a bit faster than IE8 and Firefox 3.5, almost same like Google Chrome.

- It take sometime to download the setup file (SafariSetup.exe), because the file size is around 27.8MB, and if you are using dial-up then you need to wait for while.
- The installation for the Safari 4 is simple without prompt many questions, and didn't give me any problem.
- No problem to view my blog and really fast.
- May be I already installed the Java plug-in before, so when i view the Penang Tai Chi homepage without any error.
Browse Chinese Website: 5/5 (5 = Excellent)

- I can open few safari 4 and login to Facebook using different accounts at the same time and play the Facebook Farmtown, Restaurant City, and Pet Society online flash game. Wow, the performance is good, and when click on the flash game button, it pop-up very fast.

After I tried many times for above Internet Browsers and used in office for .Net and Java base application as well, and make sure I choose the right browser which is my Best and Fastest Internet Browser moving forward.
Last week, the Google Chrome 2 was my first priority and even I set the Google Chrome 2 as my default browser.But now I use back the Firefox 3.5.1 version as my default browser.
I will use the Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4 to write the blogger blog, as It allow me to 'Resize' the picture (using Firefox) and 'Underline' the word + press 'Tab' (using Safari 4). I use the Google Chrome browser to play the online Facebook flash game.
You can try many Internet Browsers first before you choose your own right one and not need to follow me. I already mentioned that this UAT is done based on my environment. :)
Winner is Mozilla Firefox! My Next Internet Browser!
